Well, maybe that’s a slight overstatement. We have been documenting our Rummer restoration for about 18 months and had no idea anyone was reading this… except for a few comments here and there. Our new neighbors from Scotland bought the Rummer behind us...Good, Fast, Cheap… pick 2
We are do-it-yourself-ers! (With some help from our trusted contractor, Randy!) But I’ve got to admit I found a excellent work crew that I plan to use again. They were good, fast AND cheap. They needed a lot of supervision, but were eager to please and completed...Paint: Before and After

Steve spent one whole day removing nails and hooks from the exterior siding, then filling all the holes with wood putty. Uhgggg! There were hundreds (possibly a thousand!) nails all over the siding, trim and beams. Can’t even imagine what was hanging from...Why can’t it just be simple?
We cleared the back flower beds and removed the downspouts to have better access for painting. We took one downspout out and noticed standing water. Thought it was plugged up so Steve snaked it. Water did not drain… but we heard the snake hitting the downspout...THE PROJECT

WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?!
Steve – Writes commercials, plays drums and tennis (often with vintage rackets), and digs MCM style.
Haley – Is an amazing graphic designer and lady-boss, is developing an obsession with travel, puts up with noisy band practices, and also digs MCM style.
Steve was born in SoCal, raised in NorCal and has lived in the Great Pacific Northwest for many many years. Haley was born and raised nearby in NE Portland.
Together they’re attempting the seemingly impossible; to bring this great house back to its MCM Grandeur and raise two nutty kids (who are now adults!) …and not drive each other crazy in the process!
Life is kooky, but always a fun adventure!

Just in case the whole home restoration thing doesn’t work out! We have a ’56 Airstream Safari that we’re restoring in our spare time. 🙂
