RESTORE OREGON

MCM DESIGN SERIES

MAY 10-11, 2019

Rummer Fun was one of five MCM homes featured in the 2019 home tour focusing on historically sensitive renovations.

It was very fun to meet so many MCM enthusiasts and talk about our home renovation projects and options available for anybody renovating their midcentury home.

Check out the feature article in The Oregonian.

Just let it go……

Okay, so Haley and I were talking about how we can give the atrium more "zip" and I had the stellar (I thought) idea of putting small fountains all around the flower beds, buried in the lava rock. They would be set up to spray water up a foot or so for just 10 seconds...

Eureka!

While Steve is distracted installing the toilet in the kids' bathroom (yah!) , I thought I'd quickly share our newest discovery! The sun is finally out... perfect day to walk the yard and plan our outdoor projects. While exploring we discovered treasure. Buried under...

Stay tuned… the bathroom is nearly finished!

I know I know... there has been nothing new from us in quite a while, but rest assured we haven't been sitting idol eating chips and fighting over the remote (well, not ALL the time). The small bathroom is almost finished. The floor looks great, we like the new paint...

Another Rummer in the news

This is a short, but good article in todays paper about a Lake Oswego Rummer kitchen re-do. They didn't do a historic restoration or anything, but I think they did a nice job making it work better for their family (breakfast bar, much more open to accommodate more...

Flat Roofs + Snow = Oh, No!

Update 12/24/08: Yup, it started snowing on the 14th and we're snowed in. Still. 3 more inches fell yesterday. No mail in 7 days. No garbage service in 2 weeks. Cars are encased in snow cocoons. Chains are required everywhere. Our town is still under a State of...

Merry Holidays!

Snowed in for 5 days... and we're a little punchy. Had to get a little creative with the Santa hats! Have a safe and happy holiday.

Snow Day!

UPDATE 12/17/08: We hardly ever get snow here... and any snow that doesn't melt immediately is quite the novelty. We have about 4" from last Sunday's storm... and it's been snowing all morning on Wednesday. Should get another 4-6" by tomorrow, and more (possibly...

WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?!

Steve – Writes commercials, plays drums and tennis (often with vintage rackets), and digs MCM style.

Haley Is an amazing graphic designer and lady-boss, is developing an obsession with travel, puts up with noisy band practices, and also digs MCM style.

Steve was born in SoCal, raised in NorCal and has lived in the Great Pacific Northwest for many many years. Haley was born and raised nearby in NE Portland.

Together they’re attempting the seemingly impossible; to bring this great house back to its MCM Grandeur and raise two nutty kids (who are now adults!) …and not drive each other crazy in the process!

Life is kooky, but always a fun adventure!

PLAN B… THE TRAILER

Just in case the whole home restoration thing doesn’t work out! We have a ’56 Airstream Safari that we’re restoring in our spare time. 🙂

Check out our trailer adventures HERE.
